Artists Market - for Shoppers

The MacArthur Boulevard Artists Market is held every Saturday in June from 9am to 3pm at the Town and Country Shopping Center, 2403 South MacArthur Boulevard in Springfield, IL, 62704.

The goal of the market is to raise awareness of the MacArthur Boulevard shopping area as a destination for unique local items, including handmade arts and crafts.

In 2010, for the first time, we are offering a semi-juried show, with a variety of new artisans displaying their work. Each week will have a different group of artists, so plan to shop each week.

View a list of artisans with photos (coming soon) of arts and crafts at the show this year.

New this year!  Food vendors will include Pease's Candy, Kettle Korn and a hot dog stand.  Entertainment will feature Tom Irwin on the first and third Saturdays and Pete Sander on the second and fourth Saturdays.  The sound system will be provided by Premier Audio-Visual.  We will offer face painting and pet adoptions every Saturday with the Animal Protective League.

Great tips for artists at EventLister.com...

The cost for 2010 is $20 per week, and we require each artist to register for at least 2 weeks out of the 4.  We accept checks but not credit cards.

The show is offered for two reasons: to increase and enhance the awareness of the MacArthur Boulevard area and to serve as a market for emerging and accomplished artists.  To that end, we will evaluate artists applications with an eye toward market appeal and diversity and a balance among and within artistic categories.

All items sold must be handmade by the artist who is participating.  We welcome 3-6 photos representative of your work; workshop photos of items in progress are also welcome.  Please consider this especially if you are new to the market or are offering new types of work.

We will be using the same area at Town and Country Shopping Center.  Details about setting up and  tearing down are included on the application form.  The display area map and Frequently Asked Questions will be posted on our website by the end of February.

Please share Market information with other artists and craft persons who might enjoy participating in this fun urban market. With the exciting developments on MacArthur and the positive publicity around the redevelopment plan, we expect this to be the best market ever.

Thanks for your continued interest in working with us to bring art lovers to MacArthur Boulevard each summer.  We're thrilled to be moving into our fourth year for this event and look forward to seeing you!

If you have questions, please email info@shoponmacarthur.com.
